Workshop: Healing Trauma Through Daily Habits
This workshop's goals are for educators to identify and discuss symptoms of trauma and vicarious trauma in their school communities. Then, participants will proactively plan a personalized daily map of how to both care for yourself and the needs of others. Materials and resources inspiring this workshop and conversation are from the research and writings of Laura van Dernoot Lipsky and her books Trauma Stewardship and The Age of Overwhelm and her podcast Future Tripping. Facilitator: Mel Georgiou, educator at The Virtual Academy. (This workshop is not a training program or certification.)

Workshop: Cultivating Reading Identities and Supportive Reading Communities
In traditional school settings, some skills and identities that our children bring to the classroom are supported and cultivated while others are often discouraged. In this workshop, we will explore ways educators can welcome, celebrate, and cultivate all the skills and knowledge our children bring to the classroom while also learning how we can leverage these to support students’ growth as readers of print text. By the end of the workshop, we hope you will have a full toolbox of ideas you will use to build a rich, diverse, supportive, and excited community of readers in your classroom in the coming school year. Facilitator: Evelyn Pollins, University of Illinois at Chicago
